Requirements for the project
The internal measured building survey of the Edinburgh Hotel was fully controlled using interconnecting stations or scan targets. As a result, the plans could be accurately overlaid to identify core structural elements. A 3D laser scanning service was performed using controls with GPS. Fit marks were provided on each of the plans for ease of reference and understanding.
External scans of the buildings were used to constrain the outer envelope of the floor plates of all above ground floor levels.
As-built plans
The as-built 2D drawings contained the following information:
- Structural and partition walls
- Columns, stairs and ramps
- Floor levels and ceiling heights
- Window details and door swings
- Structural ceiling detail, including beams and down-stands, when visible.
The floor plans also included risers, service intakes, and indicative locations of kitchen fixtures/fittings and wet services, including sinks, toilets, and basins.
The detail and the accuracy of the plans were delivered in a 1:50 scale, which is band D of the RICS table of measurement accuracy.
